Singham Again: A Rohit Shetty Extravaganza with a Twist of Ramayana
Rohit Shetty's Singham franchisee has always been identified with high-octane action, over-the-top characters, and a generous dose of humor. Singham Again emulates the same, except this time around, with the highly ambitious agenda of merging elements of the Ramayana into it. It's an epic retelling of the Ramayana in the world of Rohit Shetty's cop universe. Ajay Devgn plays his iconic character Bajirao Singham, who this time around will have to be on a mission to rescue his wife, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan. He will be pitted this time around against an evil Ravana played by Arjun Kapoor, and his performance is menacing, to say the least. Other prominent characters from the Rohit Shetty universe will make their appearances too in the form of Ranveer Singh as Simmba and Akshay Kumar as Sooryavanshi.
The Good
• Action Sequences: Rohit Shetty is a lord of action choreography. Singham Again is an entire delight of high-voltage action sequences that are bound to keep the audience Porch. Car chases, explosions, and hand-to-hand combat all were executed with precision and style.
• Comedies: The movie's humour is its high point. The inimitable brand of humor that Rohit Shetty was famous for, self-defacing at the same time as silly, works for this movie. The dialogues are wittily penned, and the timing of comedy is just perfect.
• Visual Effects: Special effects in the movie are great. In particular, the visual effects of scenes set in the underworld are stunningly beautiful.
Performances: Ajay Devgn is a natural as Bajirao Singham. He is powerful with a perfect blend of action, drama and comedy. Kareena Kapoor Khan is equally good as Singham's wife. Arjun Kapoor is menacing as Ravana.
The Bad
• Mediocre Story: Although the action sequences and comedy are first-class, the storyline of the film is very mediocre. The plot has been highly predictable, and the screenplay often used lots of clichés.
• Too Many Cameos: Too many cameos dominated this movie and often disrupted the flow.
• Dragging On: This movie ran over two hours and had parts that felt like could have been edited out.
Overall
Singham Again is a fun and an entertaining film, courtesy its fan base that comes from Rohit Shetty. The storyline is weak, but the movie makes up for the rest in terms of action, humor, and performance. If you're looking out for a mindless and action-packed film, then Singham Again is worth a watch.
